Julie Payette ( new unnamed Whitby school)

Should community need warrant, a licensed, before and after school programme will be considered for Julie Payette (new unnamed Whitby school). Such a programme would provide before and after school care for children from 3.8 - 12 years of age (with the possibility of accommodating Kindergarten children as long as care was not required during school hours). Care would also be available during P.A. Days and school breaks either at the school, or in another Schoolhouse Playcare Centre close by. Summer programmes would also be made available to families with registration commencing yearly in March.

The programme would provide learning and recreational activities in all areas of the children’s development, in a relaxing environment that enables the children to make choices about the activities in which they would like to participate. The routine would be flexible to meet children’s varying needs, within a schedule that accommodates attendance, snack (provided), group activities and individual activities.

The ratio of staff to children would be, at minimum, 1: 15, with the programme having one Early Childhood Educator (or equivalent) and one Assistant. Staff would be trained in First Aid/CPR and will have had a police reference check completed prior to employment.
