Schoolage Programme

Age range            6 – 12 years
Adult/child ratio    1:15

The schoolage programme is designed to meet the schoolage child’s needs both as a group and as individuals by offering a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere and a wide variety of activities and opportunities to develop their skills. Schoolage care is available at 17 of our locations.

The schoolage child is very independent, curious, physically active and takes more responsibility for him/herself and their belongings.  They do more problem solving and are much more sociable people.  He/she needs more cognitive challenges than ever before and needs to have input and choices into their daily lives and activities.

They are encouraged in their growing independence by being given the responsibility of moving between school classroom and the child care rather than have staff collect them.  The children also take an active role in deciding on activities, themes, games etc., in their programme and are encouraged to take the opportunity to make their own choices and suggestions of ideas for the programme.

Through planned activities, games and daily routines, the children are encouraged to be independent, self assured and responsible.  They develop skills, friendships and most importantly, they have fun doing it!
