What type of programing does each SPC camp offer?

Outdoor Camp (5-12 years)           
Our outdoor camp is best suited for campers who enjoy being outside, and who are comfortable exploring the forest and creek.  Campers who attend this camp are outside 100% of their day and should be comfortable with getting dirty and coming across insects and small animals along the way!  There will be a variety of activities that are focused on exploring and learning about the natural environment.  
Note – in extreme weather (i.e., lightening), campers are relocated to Claremont Public School for a modified indoor program.

Sports Camp (6-12 years)
Our sports camp is best suited for campers who enjoy participating in sports activities and being active.  Campers who attend this camp spend a lot of their day outside and have access to the gym and multi-purpose space for indoor programming. Campers will be introduced to a variety of different sports, with an emphasis on fair play, sportsmanship and teamwork. They will also cool off at the local splash pad and park.

Creative Camp (5-10 years)
New year!  Our creative camp is best suited for campers who enjoy putting their creativity to the test through a variety of cooking, STEM and creative art experiences. Campers who attend this camp will have a balance of indoor and outdoor programming and will participate in community outings each week, including a visit to a local splashpad.

What are the daily drop-off and pick-up times for summer camp?

Our camp programs operate from 9:00am to 4:00pm daily. Please refer to the bus schedule for bus times which are location specific. If you require an earlier drop-off time or later pick-up time, please review our extended camp care options in the summer camp guide.

Do you offer before and/or after camp care?

Accepted Answer

Yes! We offer extended hours for all our camp locations. Please see the summer camp guide for before and after-camp care locations. Our morning program starts at 7:00 a.m. and our afternoon program operates until 6:00 p.m.

Question 6

How does bus transportation work?

Accepted Answer

For your convenience, transportation services are offered to each of our camp locations and the cost is included in your camp fees.  When registering you will be asked to select either “bus stop” or drive direct. If you select the bus option, then you will be able to select your bus stop. This is where your camper will get on and off the bus each day. Please refer to our 2026 Summer Camp Guide for more information.

Can my teen volunteer at camp?

Is there a meal service offered?

We do not offer a meal service at our camps. Families should pack a healthy lunch, and two snacks each day, as well as a refillable water bottle to ensure campers stay hydrated throughout the day.

Question 9

Are SPC Camps nut-free?

Accepted Answer

SPC camps are “nut aware” and families are asked to avoid sending food items that have or may contain nuts. When families register, they are asked to provide information about camper’s allergies and food restrictions, and this is shared with the camp team.   When our camp programs provide a special treat, we review all allergies and dietary restrictions to ensure that everyone stays safe.

How do I register for Camp 2026?

If you have not attended a camp or licensed care program before we will need you you to complete a registration package, and upload it to our secure portal ( https://ln5.sync.com/dl/0f602d330/y4atixyy-himrhbjv-xura6fqs-26gtsaea)(password: Schoolhouse54) or drop it off at one of our locations.

Question 11

Do I have to register my child for a full week of Summer Camp?

Accepted Answer

Yes, families register on a weekly basis (Monday–Friday), and we do not offer daily options.  We are closed on Canada Day and the August Civic Holiday, so there are two shorter weeks through the summer.  Fees are prorated to reflect the shortened week.

If a week is full, how can I get on the waitlist?

You can be automatically added to the waitlist if a camp week is full, through the registration portal. If a spot opens, you will be notified via email to see if you would still like to register for that week.

If my child needs extra support, can they attend camp?

This will provide us with the opportunity to help select a camp program best suited for your child and ensure we have the appropriate supports in place to ensure a positive camp experience.

What if I need to change my camper’s weeks?

Families can transfer their registration to a different week and/or program subject to availability. Please email Christina Baker at c.baker@schoolhouseplaycare.ca (mailto:c.baker@schoolhouseplaycare.ca)and provide:
1.    your camper’s name
2.    the program/week(s) you are currently registered for
3.    the program/week(s) you would like to switch to

How do I cancel my camper’s registration?

If you cancel prior to Friday May 29, 2026, no fees will be applied.

If your cancellation request is made after Friday May 29, 2026, and before Tuesday June 30, 2026, 50% of your fees will be applied.

After Tuesday June 30, 2026, all requests for cancellations/refunds will need to be made directly to Rita Ricard, Director of Finance at r.ricard@schoolhouseplaycare.ca(mailto:r.ricard@schoolhouseplaycare.ca)

How do I request my camper to be in the same group as their friend(s)?

Requesting a friend in the same group as your camper is easy!  Please fill out our “request a friend” form – we have one for each camp!  Please also ask the friend to fill out the form too!

How does payment work?

Fees are withdrawn directly from the bank account information that was provided at the point of registration.
·         Fees for camp days from June 29 to July 31 will be withdrawn on Tuesday July 7, 2026. 
·         Fees for camp days from August 4 to Friday September 4 will be withdrawn on Friday August 7, 2026.

If my fees are subsidized through Durham Region, can I attend SPC Camps?
